Medical Emergency Training

A medical emergency requires emergency equipment and medications, quick thinking, effective communication and teamwork.

On Tuesday, November 15th Drs. Michael Dalton, Andrew DeWitt, Thomas King III, Kimberly Pingel and Justin Nagel and the Great River Oral and Maxillofacial PC team located at 100 Bryant St strengthened their emergency management skills and increased awareness for patient safety with facilitator, Rick Ritt, EMT-P, MA
President of Dental Simulation Specialists, Kildeer, IL.

The Great River Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team effectively trained on a series of graded emergency scenarios, with the use of the SimMan, a realistic effective tool in getting the doctors and staff prepared for real life emergencies.

Dr. Michael Dalton said “We have to be prepared for potential emergencies, and with a simulator, we can simulate and practice how to manage them. The idea is that we’re using our own staff, our own emergency equipment in our office as we simulate through all the scenarios.” Rick Ritt was at the training session to oversee the SimMan and manage the scenarios. Beth Mohr, Clinical Team Leader, said “It helps the team know their roles in an emergency and to be more comfortable knowing how we work together”.
